What is Orton-Gillingham tutoring?
Orton-Gillingham is a structured, multisensory approach to teaching reading and spelling, designed specifically for students who struggle with literacy, including students with dyslexia. Instruction is direct, sequential, and tailored to each student's individual pace and needs, using techniques that engage sight, sound, speech, and movement to help reading and spelling skills stick.
Who does Reading Well with Missy Carr-Keveles work with?
Reading Well with Missy Carr-Keveles provides one-on-one reading and spelling tutoring for students in Pre-K through 12th grade, including students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD, and other language-based learning differences.
What are Missy Carr-Keveles's qualifications?
Missy Carr-Keveles is an Orton-Gillingham Certified Reading Specialist and Academic Language Therapist with over 25 years of experience in early childhood education. She holds a Master's Degree in Human Development with a concentration in Learning Differences and Leadership from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, and a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Minnesota-Duluth. She is certified in Orton-Gillingham Basic and Advanced instruction through The Reading Center of MN, with additional training in the Wilson Reading System and The Writing Revolution.
How long are tutoring sessions?
Tutoring sessions with Reading Well with Missy Carr-Keveles are 55 minutes long.
How often do students need tutoring?
Two sessions per week are recommended during the school year for the strongest results.
Are sessions available online?
Yes. Reading Well with Missy Carr-Keveles offers both in-person and online tutoring sessions via Zoom, so families can choose the format that works best for them.
How much does tutoring cost?
Tutoring sessions start at $75 per session. Rates listed apply from September 1, 2026 through August 31, 2027.
Is Missy currently accepting new students?
Availability changes throughout the year. When the schedule is full, families can join a waiting list here.
How do I get on the waitlist for summer tutoring?
Families interested in summer-only tutoring should reach out in January or February to discuss availability and scheduling for the upcoming summer.
What makes this tutoring approach different?
Every tutoring plan is built around the individual student's strengths and needs rather than a one-size-fits-all program. Sessions are designed to be calm, encouraging, and engaging, so students can be themselves while building real reading and spelling skills and growing in confidence.
Will I be able to see my child's progress?
Yes. Parents and adults are kept informed on how sessions are going and what progress looks like over time, so families always have a clear picture of how their child is growing.
