How We Work Together

Every student learns differently, so every plan starts with getting to know how your child learns best. Missy uses the Orton-Gillingham approach, a structured, step-by-step method for teaching reading and spelling that's designed specifically for students who find those skills difficult, including students diagnosed with dyslexia.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all program, Orton-Gillingham is a flexible approach that Missy adapts to each student's pace and needs. Instruction is direct and multisensory, meaning students see, hear, say, and write what they're learning, building connections that make reading and spelling stick.

Session Format

Sessions are one-on-one, so your child gets Missy's full attention every time. Lessons build on each other step by step, moving at a pace that matches where your child is right now, not where a grade-level chart says they should be.

Just as important: sessions are relaxed and encouraging. Kids get to be themselves here. Learning happens alongside real connection, and progress is something both students and parents/adults can see and feel over time.

Ongoing Partnership

Tutoring works best when families and tutor are on the same page. Missy keeps parents/adults informed on how sessions are going and what progress looks like, so you always know where your child stands and how to support their learning at home.
